ABOUT US

The Saltville Alkalies Baseball Club was founded in 2014 and is a non-profit organization. As an elite travel baseball team, the Alkalies provide the opportunity for players from the Smyth County area to compete in the game of baseball at a highly competitive level. These opportunities are offered to players at the 10U age levels.

The Alkalies are registered members of the BPA Association. We will compete in the East TN BPA tournaments, as well as other competitive tournaments, across Virginia and Tennessee.

The Alkalies are comprised of top level players that represent Smyth County in the game of baseball. This allows athletes to experience advanced training and instruction which will improve player performance and knowledge.

We chose the name, Saltville Alkalies, because it has such a rich history in our area.  The original Alkalies team was a semi-professional team that played many years ago.  It was a small town team backed by a big corporation, Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation.

Our boys are encouraged and motivated to hear stories of the Alkalies.  We have had many opportunities to meet past players, managers, water boys, and fans over the last year.  We were also fortunate enough to get a team picture with Chub Arnold, who played for the Saltville Alkalies.

Our boys are proud to be associated with the team of the past and love to represent Smyth County when they put on their uniforms and play ball!
